Programs made possible under the existing Farm Bill are so popular with Pennsylvania farmers that many are turned away because there isn’t enough funding to go around. In the last year alone, 45% of PA’s applications for federal funding through the Inflation Reduction Act were rejected due to insufficient funding connected to the Farm Bill.
Fortunately, the version of the Farm Bill moving in the U.S. Senate will protect farmers and keep rural communities strong by strengthening these popular, voluntary conservation programs, promoting programs that would help reduce carbon pollution, and preserving farmland and natural habitat for future generations.
A pro-farmer, pro-environment Farm Bill will provide resources to curb polluted runoff from farms and make local farmers better able to compete in global markets by increasing yields and lowering costs. Now we need to get this Senate version passed!
Our farmers are counting on every one of us to stand alongside them and raise our voices. We can help secure a Farm Bill that is good for farmers, good for families, and good for the planet. But we need you to send your lawmakers a very clear message: the Farm Bill proposed by the Senate is the only way forward. |
