Friend,
In 2020, when President Biden was elected with a Democratic majority in the House and Senate, we achieved significant milestones . We successfully passed historic legislation, including the American Rescue Plan, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Act, the Inflation Reduction Act, and the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. And these laws, now in effect, stand as a testament to the power of a Democratic majority across the federal government.
These pieces of legislation have done what decades of our government have failed to do, including bolstering American manufacturing, tightening background checks on gun purchases, creating jobs in clean energy, supporting working families with child-care tax credits, lowering the cost of prescription drugs for seniors, and more.
However, there are crucial tasks that remain unfinished. Our Build Back Better Act included securing federal paid leave, creating a pathway to citizenship, and other pieces of legislation aimed at raising the federal minimum wage and codifying the right to an abortion failed. They all failed because Republicans in Congress were still able to block their passage.
Today, I’m writing to you to make it clear. To fulfill our agenda, we need to double down and ensure we elect Democratic majorities that Republican interference can’t shut down. [[link removed]]
Federal paid leave, creating a pathway to citizenship, raising the federal minimum wage, and codifying the right to an abortion are still central priorities for Democrats. And to finally pass these initiatives and more, we can’t lose any more Democrats in the House, Senate or White House.
Join us to show the nation that we’re not giving up – we’re doubling down. [[link removed]]
