Hi there, I'm Christy Smith and I'm running for Congress in
California's 25th district.

I never expected that I would be running for Congress in the midst of a
global pandemic (I don't think anyone would). You'd think that might be
overwhelming, but if anything, it's made me even more clear-eyed about
this campaign.

What's at stake in our special election for California’s 25th
Congressional District has never been more obvious. From people losing
their jobs, owners of small businesses closing their doors, and families
figuring out how to put food on the table, times are tough. Not to
mention, the urgent need of getting critical supplies to the heroes in the
medical field who are risking their lives every day to save the lives of
others.

We need our government to be working every day to stop the spread of this
virus and mitigate the short- and long-term economic impacts.

I got in this race to be a voice for my community. My opponent has
promised to be a voice for Donald Trump. California deserves better, which
is why I’m asking for your help.

[ [link removed] ]We only have 5 weeks left to win our special election on May 12th and
we’re officially a “TOSS UP” race. Will you pitch in $5 -- or whatever you
can afford during these times -- to help? (Your donation will be split
between my campaign and Kamala’s.)

My career has been built around helping others -- because I got so much
support when I was growing up teetering on the edge of poverty, at times
facing food and housing insecurity. My family was lucky to get the help we
needed -- and I try to help everyone I can in return.

Right now, various problems and needs across the country are coming to
light. Too many people still don't have health insurance, wages are so low
that families can't weather a small crisis let alone a big one like this,
and the lack of universal paid sick leave puts us all at risk.

But unlike the outbreak, these issues won't go away when the virus dies
down. We need leaders who will always serve to help people, not just
during a pandemic when the pressure is on.

We can make this happen, but if I am going to make it to Congress, we have
to stay on track. Republicans just booked nearly $1 million in TV ads
between now and election day in this special election. I need your help to
fight back, friends.

[ [link removed] ]I know this is a tough time. But if you can chip in whatever you can --
to my and Kamala’s campaign -- then we can win this race and keep fighting
for everyone, every single day.

Thank you,

Christy
