Protecting Those Who Protect Us

Part of supporting our first responders is ensuring they are safe in the line of duty. Anyone who harms our law enforcement should be met with the full force of the law.

That's why I introduced the COPS Act to increase penalties on anyone who assaults an officer while on the job. As crime continues to spike in American communities, we must do everything in our power to protect those who protect us. Watch my remarks on this issue by clicking here.

Delivering For Our Law Enforcement

Last year, I helped TX-23 communities secure nearly $7 million to hire more than 50 police officers across South and West Texas.

In addition, I am proud to announce that I am actively working to secure more than $37.9 million in direct funding for new policing equipment across our district. These tools will go a long way to helping our first responders protect our streets and secure the border.

Operation Stonegarden: Securing our Borders

 Operation Stonegarden is a federal grant program that provides funding to local and state law enforcement agencies to partner with Border Patrol against human and drug smuggling.

Through my seat on the House Appropriations Committee, I helped bring $37 million in funding back to Texas to aid our law enforcement in the fight to secure the border.
