Something you may not know about me is that I'm named after my
great-great-grandfather, Silas Burgess, who came to America in the belly of a
slave ship.

He was sent to America in shackles and sold to the Burgess Plantation from an
auction block in Charleston, South Carolina.

My family's story is like countless others across the country. It is a story
of the American Dream that was achieved through the blood, sweat, and tears of
those who came before me.

I've lived the American Dream despite my history and the challenges of
adversity during my upbringing. Now, I'm fighting to preserve it since the
radical left is making it harder to achieve.
