John,
We’re thrilled to share some great news out of Georgia: in yesterday's primary elections, four of our pro-choice champions won outright or are advancing to a run-off.
Primary elections are vital: they determine who will appear on the November ballot. Primary season is also when candidates grow their campaigns and connect with voters, building the foundation necessary to beat out MAGA extremists in November.
Some candidate highlights:
-
Rep. Marvin Lim (GA HD-98) won his primary. In 2022, he identified and stopped the flow of funding to a "crisis pregnancy center" (a.k.a. fake abortion clinic) in his county. We know that in his next term, he'll continue to proactively fight for reproductive freedom at every juncture.
-
Laura Judge (Cobb County School Board - Post 5) will move on to the general election, where she faces a MAGA extremist. Pro-choice school board members help ensure that our kids get holistic, inclusive, science-based curriculums—so these races are critically important!
-
Rashaun Kemp (GA SD-38) is advancing to a run-off election on June 18—and he was the top vote-getter in his primary election yesterday! We're proud to stand behind him as his campaign continues.
-
And finally, Rep. Saira Draper won her election for GA HD-90, where we know she will continue to be a stalwart champion for voting rights and reproductive rights, which are so deeply intertwined.
Against a backdrop of unrelenting attacks on our reproductive freedoms, it's so vital that we take a moment to pause, celebrate the wins, and recognize the momentum we are building.
Already this year, we've had critical primary wins in places like Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Georgia. Your gift of any amount will make more of these victories possible.
Thank you for being in this movement as a pro-choice voter. We are grateful!
Best,
The Vote Pro-Choice Team
