Year after year, Ted Cruz and his Republican colleagues in Washington try to cut Social Security and Medicare for the hardworking folks who have paid into these programs their whole lives. Ted has even compared Social Security to a Ponzi scheme.

I want to make one thing clear: As the next U.S. Senator from Texas, I will always fight to protect Social Security and Medicare.

Protecting these programs is personal to me, friend. When my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, I saw firsthand how, without Medicare, her treatment would've been difficult for our family to afford.

But Ted Cruz wants to change that.

Friend, as Texas' Senator, I won't let that happen. In my time serving in the House, I've continually stood up against these efforts to cut benefits.

I want to see Congress protect Medicare so that seniors can afford assisted living and full-time care when they need it.
