ADD YOUR NAME: The Supreme Court needs an ethical set of standards and term limits! [[link removed]]
The Supreme Court is one of the nation’s most vital institutions. The judiciary's commitment to equal and impartial justice, along with the public’s faith in its integrity, is foundational to maintaining the rule of law.
Yet the trust in our judicial system is shrinking. Let’s look at just a few examples of why:
It was recently discovered that Justice Samuel Alito waved an upside-down American flag — an expression of support for the “Stop the Steal” effort — outside his home for several days after the January 6th insurrection.
Justice Clarence Thomas accompanied billionaires on vacations and accepted lavish gifts without reporting it for years. His wife, Ginni Thomas, actively worked to overturn the 2020 presidential election by contacting numerous lawmakers to change election results.
And these are just a few examples of ethical rules violations from the Supreme Court.
As a ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, I’ve been fighting to enforce an ethical set of standards and a term limit within our nation’s highest court for years. Add your name if you agree we need to strengthen the integrity of the Supreme Court with greater accountability and transparency. [[link removed]]

We expect the justices of our nation’s highest court to hold themselves to the highest standards of ethical conduct, but, in fact, their conduct too often falls below the standards that most other government officials are required to follow.
There’s no question that Justice Alito and Justice Thomas should recuse themselves from any January 6 related case. Their neutrality is questioned, and even their commitment to our American values is now doubted.
Our judicial system suffers when it looks like the Justices of the Supreme Court—the very people we entrust to maintain the rule of law—think that they, themselves, are above the law.
A fair, impartial court is a cornerstone of our democracy, and we must restore Americans' faith in our judicial system. Sign on if you agree we need to hold Supreme Court Justices accountable for their actions and enforce an ethical code of conduct. [[link removed]]
