Friend –
Choosing when to come out and to whom is a deeply personal decision that every LGBTQ+ person has the right to make for themselves.
But in the past year, a concerning number of school districts across California have adopted policies requiring school staff to notify parents if a student uses a different name or pronouns. These forced outing policies are part of a nationwide, coordinated attack on trans and nonbinary youth.
We need your help to stop forced outings and defend LGBTQ+ students' right to determine whether and when to come out to their families.

The SAFETY Act (AB 1955), sponsored by the California Legislative LGBTQ Caucus, would strengthen existing law prohibiting school staff from being required to disclose a student's gender identity, sexual orientation, or gender expression without their consent, unless required by law to protect the student's safety.
Passing the SAFETY Act will send a clear message that all California students deserve to feel safe and supported at school.
Thanks for taking action,
