John,
Earlier this month, we protested outside of SCOTUS to say Justice Can't Wait. We demanded that SCOTUS rule on the question of immunity by May 20th so that U.S. voters would have critical information necessary before we cast our ballots. Most Americans believe that we should know whether or not the Republican candidate is guilty of interfering in our last election before we have to vote in the next one. But the deadline has passed without a word from SCOTUS. Tonight at 7:30pm ET, we'll give you the full update.
It is clear that the state of the highest court in our land is as bad or worse than we thought. Rather than defending and protecting democracy, by delaying the ruling on immunity, SCOTUS is now guilty of election interference. It feels impossible to overstate the gravity of the circumstances. It's now unequivocally confirmed that one of our national institutions has fallen to corruption and partisanship.
In tonight's Feminist Night School session, we're talking about the State of Justice. We'll be joined by court accountability experts who will help us understand the situation we're in, what the stakes are, and brainstorm together what we can and must do about it.
RSVP FOR "THE STATE OF JUSTICE"
Our judicial system is in a state of crisis. From SCOTUS Justices openly supporting the January 6 insurrection, to state courts ruling to end fertility treatments, to Christian nationalist groups forum-shopping to find sympathetic judges (and finding them) -- the situation is dire.
We can't sit on our hands as the third branch of our government is overtaken by extremist ideologues. Join us to take a hard look, and prepare to take action.
