My sister Susheela Jayapal led a strong, principled, progressive campaign. And I couldn’t be more proud of her.
She was met with an onslaught of outside spending from dark money super PACs and attacks from the far-right. Why? Because she dared to challenge the status quo to stand up for the people of Portland against Republican inaction.
Let’s be clear: Republicans spent millions of dollars to diminish our voter power and buy this election. But no amount of money will silence the movement we’re building to usher in a new generation of compassionate and bold leaders.
This is not the end, John. Elections should be decided by voters, not bought by mega-donors. We must get money out of our politics.
We need to put all of our energy into fortifying this campaign over the next three months to defeat the far-right in their tracks. Chip in today to support my leadership in Congress so that I can keep up our collective fight for a better future for all.
