Give input on draft guidance to local governments for preparing empirical parking studies
Commerce has issued draft guidance on how to prepare an empirical parking study for off-street parking associated with middle housing and Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU) infill development.
The comment period for this guidance is *May 22 – June 21, 2024*.
Recent legislation sets maximum thresholds on the amount of parking local governments can require for these types of developments. However, a local government may conduct an empirical parking study to show how additional off-street parking would improve safety. Our guidance is intended to support local governments in preparing these studies for state review and certification by Commerce.
