Hi John,
I wanted to personally make sure you saw: Georgia’s primary election has been moved to June 9th. That includes the democratic presidential primary, our congressional primary, and many other races. With the COVID-19 pandemic ongoing, it’s crucially important that we allow people to maintain social distancing to prevent the spread of this disease.
It’s very good that we are listening to the experts who are telling us that large gatherings are not a good idea at this time. In light of COVID-19, crowding into churches, high school gymnasiums, and community centers would be an absolute disaster.
June 9th is an important day in our quest to defeat President Trump and restore competent leadership in our nation. But as we saw in Wisconsin this week, it’s important to not hold in-person elections during a pandemic. Nobody should be forced to choose between exercising their democratic right to vote or their health.
Even for this delayed presidential primary on June 9th, it may be a good idea to take advantage of a vote-by-mail option. If you live in Georgia, you should have already received an absentee ballot request form. Voting by mail is the safest way that Georgians can make their voices heard without having to leave their homes. If you have any questions or need help, please call the Democratic Party of Georgia’s Voter Protection Hotline at 888-730-5816 — volunteers are here to help you.
I hope you are staying healthy and safe in these turbulent times. No matter how you vote, please do so safely, and together let’s hold this corrupt administration accountable on June 9th.
In solidarity,
Hank
Georgia’s election being postponed means that our primary election is set to go on nearly a month longer than we planned in our budgets. If you’re able, will you pitch in a contribution to help us power our campaign through June?
