Tell DOE: We need full transparency on the hydrogen hub program.
SEND MY MESSAGE [[link removed]]
The potential for clean hydrogen hubs to shape the future of our energy landscape is undeniable, but the US Department of Energy's (DOE's) current process threatens to leave communities behind.
While the DOE emphasizes the importance of engaging communities, the reality on the ground tells a different story. Here are just a few concerns host communities are facing:
-Vital information, like community benefit plans, hasn't been released to the public yet.
-Meaningful engagement opportunities have been limited, with only two virtual meetings scheduled per hub program.
-The use of fossil fuels and unproven carbon capture technology in some hubs contradicts clean energy goals and raises environmental justice concerns highlighted by the White House Environmental Justice Advisory Council.
Residents deserve a say in the projects that affect their communities, especially those already burdened by pollution and industry. It’s time the DOE makes good on its own promises to engage communities “often and regularly” to make sure that the clean energy transition benefits all communities.
climate champion, will you take a moment today to demand full transparency from the DOE on the hydrogen hub program, with all information to be released publicly, readily accessible, and delivered in a timely manner? [[link removed]]
TAKE ACTION NOW [[link removed]]
Our transition to clean energy isn’t just about reducing emissions – it’s about correcting past injustices and building a future that works for everyone. But to make that vision a reality, we must take action now to hold our leaders accountable and ensure that community voices are not just heard, but truly listened to and represented.
Together, we can demand transparency and meaningful engagement from DOE and shape a clean energy future that leaves no one behind. [[link removed]]
