New ARPF White Paper Featured in Consumer Reports

Dear John,
We are thrilled to see our newest research cited in many prestigious publications, both academic and general media. The Pink BrainTM Project study came to be in 2017 because of emerging research about women being at a higher risk of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Women make up 66% of all Alzheimer’s cases, and they are more often primary caregivers, which places an extra burden of stress on them.

This is noteworthy, especially if women already have risk factors like genetic predisposition, family history of AD, vascular risk factors or memory complaints, which may signify that they are on their way to developing mild cognitive impairment and then later dementia.
ARPF decided to fund The Pink Brain Project which focused exclusively on women. The study was the most ambitious research project of ARPF to date. Our goal was to explore whether women with multiple health conditions that are risk factors for AD would benefit from practicing Kirtan Kriya. We embarked upon this study with a group of women with cardiovascular risk factors, high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, mild depression, obesity, and subjective memory complaints.

The study revealed important findings, which led to the publication of several scientific papers in prestigious, peer-reviewed medical journals, with a few more in the pipeline. The latest press coverage is in the June issue of Consumer Reports (pictured above).

We are finalizing a new White Paper, which will reveal the benefits of the Kirtan Kriya and Kundalini Yoga intervention in this patient population and a narrative explanation of the papers.

You have made this research possible and it's through your support, John, that we continue to make progress in brain health and AD prevention.

Yours in Brain Health,

Dharma Singh Khalsa, M.D.
President / Medical Director
Outreach
Yoga Expo
On March 9th, volunteers staffed the ARPF booth at the Yoga Expo in Fort Lauderdale, FL. It was a nice event with dozens of yoga classes and practice sessions, where attendees were able to learn about ARPF research on yoga and Kirtan Kriya meditation.

"There was a great variety of classes offered and lots of different vendors to shop with. It was a fun-filled day! I really enjoyed it!" - Jeanette

How the Science of Life (Ayurveda) Boosts Brain Health
If health is a state of balance, and disease a state of imbalance, what can you do to ensure that your body is in its best position for longevity?

Come learn what governs all movement in your body's physiology, digestion, transformation, and structure at our upcoming workshop on June 4th. We will explore how Ayurveda, a traditional medicine system, looks at the whole person when evaluating brain health. Please join us for How the Science of Life (Ayurveda) Boosts Brain Health: Now and in the Future with Dr. Charles R. Elder, MD, MPH, FACP.
