Addressing the Hidden Dimensions of Poverty in Knowledge and Policies

This international conference, organized by the International Movement All Together in Dignity (ATD) Fourth World, the IMF, and the World Bank, brought together academics, practitioners, and people who have direct experience of poverty as co-researchers to better understand the key dimensions of poverty and their relationships. Participants discussed the Inclusive and Deliberative Elaboration and Evaluation of Policies (IDEEP) tool that has been developed to better design, implement, and assess policies, trainings, or projects that aim to address poverty with the active participation and inclusion of people who are experiencing poverty. Hosted by the Asia Pacific Youth Exchange and ChildFund International - Asia Region, this event featured stories from prominent youth activists who emphasized the urgent need to integrate diverse voices, particularly those from children and youth in marginalized communities, into the climate dialogue. Child poverty analysis

Child poverty in Argentina: By the end of 2023, 7.1 million or 57 per cent of children and adolescents in Argentina were living in poverty. Some faced even greater vulnerability due to factors such as low educational levels or single-parent households. Additionally, the studies highlighted non-monetary poverty, affecting seven out of 10 children (approximately 8.6 million nationwide) by late 2023. Read more (in Spanish).
Uzbekistan multidimensional child poverty report 2023: The National Multiple Overlapping Deprivation Analysis (N-MODA) assesses both material deprivation and monetary poverty experienced by children. The results can guide policy measures to reduce child poverty in the country. The latest report from Uzbekistan sheds light on the situation in the country. Read more.
Child poverty: The state of children in the European Union 2024: This report summarizes analyses of child well-being and progress within the EU during the current EU legislature (2019-2024) and highlights key issues for the next political cycle. The findings show that 1 in 4 (20 million) children in EU countries are at risk of poverty or social exclusion. Read more.

Online course: Advocacy and communication for social protection

How can you become an agent of change both inside and outside your organization in advancing the social protection agenda? Advocacy and communication are essential in establishing a rights-based culture of social protection, pushing for evidence-based governance with a view to better policymaking, and ensuring that programmes are aligned with international standards and meet people's needs. Apply to this online course taking place between 10 June and 19 July 2024 to learn about fundamental principles and instruments in advocacy and communication for achieving change. The deadline for applications is 27 May 2024.
