From a UC Davis student studying how campaign finance and lobbying may affect trade policies for infant formula products, to the Creighton University sociology faculty member interested in energy and climate policy, we track an average of 100 downloads per month of CRP's free archival data for academics.   In response to the pressing need from educators for online teaching materials during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Center for Responsive Politics has launched specialized webinars to help the transition from in-person to virtual. Featuring CRP staff expertise on campaign finance, lobbying, or political influence, the Center is offering free 30-60 minute demonstrations over virtual conferencing platforms. Accommodating educators’ needs for flexibility, our staff is customizing presentations covering topics such as dark money, gray money and outside groups; money in politics in the post-Citizens United era; political action committees; and links between money and political influence. A question and answer session may be included on request and all other relevant information about virtual classes can be found here.   Hundreds of students from coast to coast have already participated. We are also getting requests from newsrooms and citizens groups for similarly targeted trainings.
