Our campaign is in a difficult position. My self-funding Republican opponent and far-right dark money groups are spending millions of dollars on the airwaves to promote their dangerous agenda and mislead voters about my record.

We’re being outspent — so I gave my campaign manager the green light to increase our advertising budget for the month on TV and digital ads to fight back hard.

This was a tough call to make. And I know it carries a pretty big risk, especially this late in the month — but we have to counter the flood of attacks and misinformation voters are seeing right now.

If we don’t respond, these attacks could start to resonate with voters, putting us at risk. But TV ads aren’t cheap — they’re one of the most expensive line items in our budget, but they’re also one of the most effective ways to win an election.

That’s why I’m telling you all of this. This decision may have blown a hole in our May budget, but I felt confident taking the risk because this grassroots team has always had my back. You deserve the honest truth about why I’m asking for your support today.
