Last week, President Biden and the Justice Department made a major move toward rescheduling marijuana and reclassifying it as a lower-risk drug. Its current classification has it on the same level of heroin.

This news is huge. By classifying marijuana as a Schedule III drug, it would for the first time acknowledge the drug’s medical benefits at the federal level.

While the entire process can take anywhere from a few months to up to a year, this decision by the Biden administration opens many doors to patients, researchers, companies, and more.

As a proud proponent of the legalization of marijuana, I applaud President Biden for this decision.
