It was National Police Week, and I had the privilege of meeting with some of Northwest Georgia's finest police officers on Capitol Hill.

Thank you to all of the brave men and women in Blue who protect and defend our communities every day. Your selflessness, courage, and dedication to protecting your fellow citizens does not go unnoticed.

I wanted to take the time this week to honor Corporal Christopher Jackson Dye from Walker County. Corporal Dye had served with the Walker County Sheriff’s office for five years and tragically passed away from a heart attack after being exposed to fentanyl while conducting an arrest for drug possession.

We must remember the brave men and women who have died serving our communities. I will always fight for the safety and respect of America's police officers. The commitment police officers display to their communities should always be remembered and honored.

I have been vocal from the beginning on the need to defund Special Counsel Jack Smith and his corrupt political persecution of President Trump. Speaker Mike Johnson has the power to defund this illegitimate political persecution. Instead, he fully funded Biden's Department of Justice.

Last week, Speaker Johnson flew to NYC to focus on a state-level case against President Trump, a case he has no power over, rather than focusing on defunding Jack Smith and the weaponization of government, a federal case he has the power to defund. I have a bill that will completely defund the Special Counsel and end this witch hunt, but Speaker Johnson has not agreed to bring it to the floor for a vote. Speaker Johnson needs to stop with the words and do something to defund Jack Smith and his tyrannical case.

Apply to Become an Intern in Congresswoman Greene’s Washington, DC Office 

The Office of Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene is seeking interns for her office in Washington, DC. Applicants should be highly motivated, have excellent communication skills, and have interest in learning more about the legislative process. Start and end dates are flexible. Georgia ties are preferred, but not required. This is a paid position and college credit can be earned.

Interns will work in three different interest tracks:

• Policy: Interns will work closely with the Congresswoman’s legislative team. Tasks include answering phones, assisting with legislative research, processing constituent mail, attending policy briefings, and additional tasks to aid the legislative team.
  
  
• Communications: Interns will work closely with the Congresswoman’s communications team. Tasks include answering phones, compiling daily press and broadcast clips, organizing, maintaining, and updating media lists, drafting press releases, assisting with social media, and additional tasks to aid the communications team. Experience with the Adobe Suite is required.
  
  
• Administrative: Interns will work closely with the scheduler and staff assistants to complete tasks that are essential for day-to-day office organization. These include answering phones, compiling contact lists, processing constituent mail, leading Capitol tours, completing flag requests, drafting constituent correspondence, and assisting with weekly reports.
