*Governor Kelly Appoints Irma Faudoa to
Executive Director of Kansas Hispanic and Latino American Affairs Commission*
*
TOPEKA — *Governor Laura Kelly today announced Irma Faudoa's appointment as the new executive director of the Kansas Hispanic and Latino American Affairs Commission (KHLAAC).
“I have no doubt that Irma Faudoa is the right person to lead KHLAAC toward continued success,” *Governor Laura Kelly said*. “She has a proven track record in community engagement and legislative affairs, which will benefit Kansas' Hispanic and Latino communities.”
The Kansas Hispanic and Latino American Affairs Commission serves as a liaison between the Kansas Hispanic and Latino community and the Office of the Governor, with the goal of serving Hispanic and Latino residents in areas of culture, education, employment, health, housing, welfare, and recreation.
“I am deeply honored to have the privilege of serving the Hispanic and Latino Communities across Kansas,” *Irma Faudoa said*. “Through strategic collaboration with local advocates and elected officials, we can ensure that the voices of the people in these communities are heard and represented in the decision-making processes.”
Prior to this appointment, Faudoa worked at the City of Topeka as its Homeless Initiative Team Lead and Housing Navigator. In these roles, Faudoa engaged with key stakeholders to develop a portfolio of community-driven solutions to address homelessness and assist Spanish-speaking families in accessing housing resources.
Faudoa graduated from the University of Kansas with a bachelor’s in political science and a master’s in public administration.
“After a thorough selection process, the Commission, in conjunction with Governor Kelly’s Office, has agreed Ms. Faudoa is the best candidate for the position,” *said* *Monica Vargas-Huertas, KHLAAC Commission Chair. *“I am certain Irma’s exceptional qualifications, in addition to her demonstrated disposition working with underserved populations in the City of Topeka, will make her an excellent representative of our Hispanics in the Governor’s Office.”
