I recently joined a bipartisan group of about two dozen senators in writing a formal letter to Trump-appointed Postmaster General Louis DeJoy to halt his Postal Service consolidation plan that could harm mail delivery times leading into the 2024 election. It made an impact:

Our job to restore accountability at the USPS isn’t over. We still need President Biden to submit his two nominees for the USPS Board of Governors to the U.S. Senate for confirmation. By now you know Louis DeJoy’s story — the former Republican National Committee finance chair whose family is heavily invested in a private competitor of the USPS, a company he has awarded a $120 million government contract.

He’s been investigated by the FBI for an alleged GOP straw donor for company bonus kickbacks scheme. He dug his heels in and almost forced the USPS to purchase a new fleet of gasoline-powered vehicles before we passed legislation to mandate electric trucks.

He slowed down the mail during the 2020 election when historic numbers of votes were cast by absentee ballots, and his 10-year plan to reshape the Postal Service would be disastrous — particularly for rural and underserved communities.

DeJoy’s mismanagement of the USPS has been so appalling that it’s become a bipartisan issue, with Republicans in support of reform as well. We can remove DeJoy if people like you join us in raising your voice, John. Add your signature today. [[link removed]]
