John,
Did you know that more than 80% of local election officials say they need their budgets to grow to keep up with their administration and security needs?1
We’re sounding the alarm. While we’ve been working hard on the Hill, we need your help to tell Congress that regular, predictable, and sufficient federal funding is needed so that local and state election administrators can continue to protect our nation’s elections from ever-evolving foreign interference, cyber, and physical threats against election offices and officials.
Write to your elected officials today and urge them to increase federal funding for our elections!
In past years, Congress has appropriated election security funds at robust levels, including $380 million in 2018 and $400 million in 2020. But since 2020, not so much — $0 in 2021; $75 million in 2022 and 2023; and just $55 million in 2024.
Given the host of challenges that election officials face today, it’s time Congress stepped up and fulfilled its constitutional duty to secure federal elections.
The time is now to support election officials and invest in our nation’s critical election infrastructure. It’s time for Congress to provide increased federal funding for our elections.
Tell Congress to provide election officials with more federal funding.
Your voice is crucial,
Carah Ong Whaley Director of Election Protection
