Dear Friend,
Last week, Washington City Paper’s Loose Lips [[link removed]] wrote about likely campaign finance violations by the Committee to Recall Charles Allen. This is just one more example of some recall organizers injecting the toxic national politics of their day jobs into our community.

The article highlights a 10-page complaint [[link removed]] filed by Neighbors United for Ward 6 with the Office of Campaign Finance, detailing each violation endangering fair, transparent, and open elections. Most of the violations involve illegal coordination between the recall campaign and the new dark money super PAC created by some of the recall organizers - with no contribution limits.
This apparent collusion isn’t surprising. The recall committee’s donor list is littered with far-right Trump affiliates, National Republican Committee staffers, Federalist Society ultraconservatives, and lobbyists representing big oil, gas, and pharma. These are groups who don't want to see the District succeed or even self-govern.
In that light, it makes me even more proud that Charles is backed by nearly 1,000 donors like you and local voices like the DC Democratic Party , Planned Parenthood , local labor unions , and Sierra Club DC .
The truth is we don’t know how long this campaign will last, but we do know the recall proponents are tapping into deep pockets. They’ve run dirty ads against Charles and have run through an army of paid signature gatherers. We’re fighting back with our own ads, yard signs, mailers, and more coming. Your donation helps us counter their messaging and urge people to Decline to Sign [[link removed]] .

Help Stop the Recall’s Deceptive Tactics
You can help us document and stop election fraud. We’ve heard from a lot of Ward 6 neighbors concerned about the deceptive tactics used by the recall campaign’s nearly 60 paid signature gatherers from out of town (as far away as Alaska). They’re covering up the petition language, asking voters to “sign a petition for a safer DC,” and telling lies about Charles’ record. [[link removed]]
You can help us document this election fraud, which is important for us to throw out invalid signatures.
If you encounter a signature gatherer, remember:
