Since taking office, Governor Holcomb has made fighting the Opioid Crisis a top priority.
Thanks to Governor Holcomb’s all-hands-on-deck approach, Indiana now ranks amongst the top four states in reducing overdose deaths.
As we celebrate the progress we have made, we still remember those who have lost their lives to this disease. This is why Governor Holcomb remains steadfast in fighting the Opioid Crisis.
Here’s how the Hoosier Approach is saving lives:
Since 2017, the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration’s Division of Mental Health has expanded treatment beds by 385%, and the total number of outpatient addiction treatment providers has increased by 8%.
In September 2023, Governor Holcomb unveiled Shatterproof Treatment Atlas, a free, confidential tool to connect Hoosiers with addiction treatment.
We’ve partnered with five call centers, answering 3,200 - 3,800 calls from Hoosiers experiencing crisis.
Indiana launched a regional recovery hub network to provide individual and group peer support. Since 2020, over 186,900 services have been provided across 20 hubs.
These are just some of the ways that Governor Holcomb and the State of Indiana are working with local partners to save lives and fight the Opioid Crisis.
