Armenian journalists who were trained at Poynter this month.
Dear ,
Journalists from around the world turn to Poynter for transformational professional development. We are honored to provide a world-class experience for those defending freedom of expression and chronicling the important issues affecting their communities.
Poynter is a longtime partner of the U.S. Department of State, which brings in international visitors year-round. Earlier this month, we taught a group of journalists from Armenia.
Poynter faculty member Jon Greenberg ([link removed]) taught the journalists the process PolitiFact ([link removed]) uses in its fact-checking. The group also deconstructed award-winning journalism investigations that hold the powerful accountable. The program continued the following week in Washington, D.C., where the journalists learned more about our nation’s capital and visited with journalists at Politico and The New York Times.
Journalists who participate in Poynter’s teaching programs describe the experience as topical and leading-edge. By year end, our teaching will extend to thousands of journalists and include more than 100 programs. This includes both online and in-person, at our headquarters in St. Petersburg and in newsrooms around the world. These are more than just statistics. By encouraging journalists to dig for the truth, communities are changed as a result of Poynter’s work in service to democracy.
This is where you come in.
Poynter depends on the generosity of individuals, like you, who value our mission. Times change; however, journalism’s pursuit of the truth remains constant. Will you partner with Poynter and contribute today?
I STAND FOR THE TRUTH AND WILL CONTRIBUTE $50 TODAY ([link removed])
Thank you for your support!
Sincerely,
Deborah Read
