Today, for the SECOND TIME THIS WEEK, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit ruled against Texas abortion providers. This means that, as of just a few hours ago, abortion is once again largely inaccessible in the state of Texas.
Today’s ruling bars most patients from accessing abortion care, with the exception of those who would be beyond the gestational age limit in Texas before Governor Abbott’s order expires on April 22, and thus completely prevented from receiving an abortion in the state. This latest ruling has created additional legal whiplash, causing confusion and uncertainty for hundreds of patients in need of abortion care.
The Fifth Circuit is allowing Texas to force women to wait until the eleventh hour to get the time-sensitive, essential health care that they are constitutionally guaranteed. We will keep fighting to ensure no one is left behind. Please make a generous gift right now to continue to stand with us.
Onward,
