Albuquerque, N.M. – The Coalition to Stop Violence Against Native Women (CSVANW) is thrilled to announce its highly anticipated 10th Annual Tribal Leaders Summit, scheduled for May 22nd & 23rd, 2024 at the Isleta Resort & Casino. This landmark event serves as a pivotal platform for tribal, state, and federal officials alongside advocates and community members committed to the well-being of Native women, children, and relatives.
The theme for this year's summit is "Empowering Change: Cultivating Safety & Protection of Our People." It underscores the critical need to address and prevent violence within our tribal communities while offering culturally relevant solutions tailored to our unique challenges.
Tiffany Jiron, CSVANW Executive Director, expressed enthusiasm for the summit, stating, "We are delighted to convene with tribal leaders, advocates, and community members to foster dialogue and action towards achieving safety for survivors and communities. This year's summit provides an invaluable opportunity for tribal leaders to engage with us and gain deeper insights into the pressing issues affecting our communities."
CSVANW aims to amplify diverse voices and perspectives during the summit, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and shared responsibility in creating pathways to healthier and safer communities. "We hope to harness the wisdom and experiences of multiple generations to drive meaningful change," added Tiffany Jiron.
The summit will serve as a strategic platform for CSVANW to prepare tribal leaders for the upcoming 19th Annual Government-to-Government Tribal Consultation in November. Charlotte Gonzales, CSVANW Policy and Advocate Director, highlighted the importance of this preparation, stating, "Our goal is to equip tribal leaders with recommendations and testimonies that will catalyze stronger collaborations between tribal, state, and federal agencies. Together, we can systematically address violence against Indigenous women and families nationwide."
The 10th Annual Tribal Leaders Summit promises to be a transformative gathering, focusing on sharing perspectives, addressing challenges, and fostering actionable strategies to combat violence within our communities.
