Hey — welcome to our
campaign!
I'm Sarah, and I'm running to represent my home state of Delaware in
Congress.
In 2020, I became the first openly trans person elected to serve as a
State Senator anywhere in the country. It really felt like America was
blazing a path to the future.
But since then, the far-right has tried to use the LGBTQ+ community as a
scapegoat for their own policy failures. As they’ve increased their
attacks on families and kids, it has become even more clear: for our
democracy to work, it needs to include all of us. We need to have a trans
representative at the table in Congress.
I’ve seen firsthand in the Delaware State Senate that our presence in the
halls of power changes the culture of the most important institutions in
our country — and when it does, we can make government work better for
families and workers.
In Delaware, I’ve worked with Democrats and Republicans to pass a historic
paid family and medical leave law, pass nondiscrimination protections,
combat disinformation online, and take on the gun lobby (and win).
On occasion, I’ve put my foot down: like when I blocked anti-trans
legislation from moving through my committee. But I was able to do that
because I knew my home state would have my back.
