John,
Since Friday, when news broke that Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito had a "Stop the Steal" symbol hanging outside his home while hearing cases about Trump's efforts to overturn the election, more than 50,000 MoveOn members have signed the petition to hold him accountable and demand his recusal from Trump's immunity appeal. Will you add your name now to amplify this demand and ramp up pressure on Congress and the court to act?
The pressure is already working. Champions in Congress—Senate Judiciary Chairman Dick Durbin and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries—are joining the mounting demands for biased Supreme Court Justice Alito to recuse himself from all cases involving Trump and the 2020 elections.1 The more we can demonstrate that constituents across this country deeply care about corruption on the Supreme Court, the more we can build pressure and stop Alito from trying to sweep this egregious and unacceptable scandal under the rug—like he and other corrupt Supreme Court justices have done in the past.
The Supreme Court is right now considering Trump's bogus "absolute immunity" claims—Trump's attempt to evade accountability for his role in the January 6 insurrection. Biased, partisan behavior has no place on our Supreme Court—but unfortunately, corruption on the highest court has gone unchecked for far too long. It's time to clean up the court, and that starts with holding Alito accountable for his unethical behavior.
Thanks for all you do.

Dear MoveOn member,
BREAKING: The New York Times just reported that the home of Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito displayed a symbol that shows solidarity with the effort to overturn the 2020 election ... while he was hearing a case about that effort.2 The upside-down flag—a "stop the steal" image—is just the latest evidence that the partisan Republicans on the court cannot impartially hear or rule on cases related to the efforts to overturn the election, the January 6 insurrection, or Trump's claims of immunity.
Even if Alito won't take the ethical action on his own, it is critical to amp up pressure on lawmakers and the Chief Justice. It's especially critical to ensure everyone knows about his conflicts and violations, as the court could rule any day on Trump's immunity claims.
The revelation of this sign of partisanship and partiality on Alito's home is the latest in the trend of right-wing Supreme Court justices embracing conflicts of interest with relation to Trump's election cases. Justice Clarence Thomas's wife, Ginni Thomas, a leading conservative activist, took action to try to overturn the election results—yet Thomas did not disclose this while ruling on cases related to the insurrection and has continued to hear cases such as Trump's appeal for immunity.3
Because Chief Justice John Roberts has allowed these conflicts to go unchecked, the Supreme Court is at its lowest public approval ever—with the public losing trust in the institution's integrity and seeing it as the tool of a partisan right-wing agenda that it is. That's why it shouldn't surprise anyone that these partisan actors are overturning precedent and taking groundless cases to pursue an agenda that has undermined abortion rights, undone environmental regulations, and enriched and empowered corporations and billionaires.
And the Senate Judiciary Committee—which has the duty to be a check on the Supreme Court—must investigate these conflicts immediately and take action to hold conflicted, corrupt justices accountable, including impeachment if necessary.
Thanks for all you do.

Want to support MoveOn's work? The MAGA movement's book bans have forced teachers and librarians across the country to remove books from their shelves and censor what young people can learn. MoveOn is fighting back, including by filling a "Banned Bookmobile" with books that the far right has banned and driving it to key cities and towns to raise the visibility of book bans, hand out banned books for free, and bring people together to stop censorship. To keep up the fight against book bans and the MAGA politicians who support them, we need your help.
Will you start a monthly gift to power and sustain MoveOn's critical work?
