Indivisibles,
Ever-skyrocketing rates of infection. Wisconsin voters in masks risking
their lives to cast their ballots. Over 17 million people filing for
unemployment. With all this in the news, it can be easy to feel
overwhelmed.
So we want to be really clear about this one thing: Trump and the
Republican Party caused this whole mess. And the only way to fix it is to
vote them out.
This isn’t just us saying it: The Atlantic published [ [link removed] ]an article about
COVID-19 on April 4th headlined “This is Trump’s Fault.” VOX [ [link removed] ]reported a
few weeks ago that “Trump’s Covid-19 response has been a disaster years in
the making.” The AP and many, many others have [ [link removed] ]reported on how Trump
disbanded the White House Global Pandemic Response team. Paul Krugman
wrote [ [link removed] ]a column that the Chicago Tribune headlined “Leading in confirmed
cases, the US will be the world’s coronavirus epicenter within days — and
it’s Trump’s fault.”
And that’s just Trump. Don’t forget that the Republican Party has spent
the last decade trying over and over and over and over and over (and
[ [link removed] ]over) to dismantle our entire public health infrastructure, [ [link removed] ]restrict
voting rights, and otherwise appease their corporate overlords. Now, the
holes they've punched in our health system and our democracy are all
showing up at once, and it's people who are suffering as a result.
Don’t let anyone (especially Trump) tell you differently: while the
Republicans may not be at fault for the virus emerging, they are
absolutely at fault for our inability to effectively stop it.
The only solution, long term, is to vote them out of office. And while we
can’t match their dark-money donors, we can outwork and out-strategize
them -- with your help. Here’s what we need:
First: [ [link removed] ]Click on this link to pledge to do everything you can to vote
the Republicans out in November. That means phone banking, text banking,
making sure your friends are registered to vote, and a lot more. We’ll
send you an email as soon as you sign on with things you can do right now,
while you’re social distancing, and be in touch more over the next few
months.
Second: If you’re able, [ [link removed] ]click here to donate $10 right now to support
Indivisible Action. Your money will go towards funding all that work and
defeating Republicans nationwide.
Third: Forward this email to 3 or 4 friends who aren’t yet involved and
ask them to join you.
Trump is going to use his deny, deny, deny playbook, and to claim that he
had the greatest response, the best response to this crisis ([ [link removed] ]he’s
already trying, in fact). We are the only ones who can stop the narrative
and hold him accountable. We need you with us.
In solidarity,
Indivisible Team
