What we're building goes beyond one team or election. We need you with us.

Dear John, 

Right now, I am organizing a team of parents and caregivers, Minnesota United Parents (MNUP), who are clear that our loved ones deserve lives full of belonging, support, and possibility – and we deserve rest, joy, and time with our families. 

This team means so much to me. I get to be in deep relationship with other parents and caregivers as we build power to address our struggles, together.  

Here are three ways to build power with us right now: 

1. Become a sustaining member of TakeAction Minnesota during our Spring Member Drive. 
2. Meet members of my team and see our work in action at TakeAction’s 2024 Annual Fundraiser on Thursday, June 13 from 5-7pm.  
3. If you’re a parent or caregiver in Minneapolis, join us for a townhall on Wednesday, May 22 from 6-8pm with community and elected officials about the proposed $115 million cuts to the Minneapolis Public Schools budget and the investments our children and families deserve.

Before I started organizing, I often felt isolated in moments of overwhelm, anger, or grief – with no place to channel those feelings. As both a parent and public defender, I struggled to navigate broken systems alone, and I felt powerless to change them.  

Stepping into my power as an organizer changed that. Building Minnesota United Parents (MNUP) with my team, I’ve found community, agency, and hope. I’m proud of the example we’re setting for our kids as we challenge ourselves to push for the world we deserve – and energized for the fights and wins to come.  

What we're building at TakeAction Minnesota goes beyond one team or election. From parents and renters, to musicians, high school students, and a progressive voting bloc of 30,000 voters, we are organizing collectively toward our north star: delivering on the unfulfilled promise of American democracy, where our government is shaped by us and our economy works for us.
