I made a difficult decision this week as Tammy’s campaign manager, and I thought you should know about it.
First, let me catch you up: Tammy’s Republican opponent has outspent us on the airwaves for the past three months, spending north of $6 million on ads alone.
But it doesn’t stop there. Multiple right-wing dark money groups have swooped in to support Hovde’s campaign by flooding Wisconsin with attack ads of their own. All in all, Republicans have already combined to spend more than $11 million to defeat Tammy.
Wisconsin elections are historically expensive, but even this is unprecedented, . We’ll be drowned out by these outside spenders if we don’t change our campaign strategy.
After much discussion with Tammy and the team, we decided to increase our own May advertising buy to fight back against Hovde and his right-wing allies. The money isn’t in the budget right now, but I gave the green light anyway.
I’ll be honest, I took a big risk here. There’s no doubt about it. But I was willing to bet that if I reached out and told the truth, our grassroots supporters would come through to help fill this unexpected hole in our budget so we can keep these ads live.
Can I count on you to chip in to Tammy’s reelection campaign today? The only way we can keep pace with Eric Hovde and the dark money groups spending big to flip this seat is with the support of folks like you.

We need to take risks if we’re going to defend Wisconsin’s battleground Senate seat. Competing with a self-funding megamillionaire is no easy task, so I’m grateful to have a team of supporters as dedicated as you on our side.
