Dear John,

I have great news! Although the so-called Equal Rights Amendment passed the Minnesota House over the weekend, it was NOT taken up by the Minnesota Senate before the deadline (midnight last night). Remember, the ERA is a bill that would put an amendment on your ballot to add abortion up until birth and "gender identity" (which could supersede other protections against discrimination, especially protections for women and girls) to our state Constitution, while posing new threats for people of all faiths and religious institutions and organizations.

Now I'm thrilled to announce that the bill is dead for this year! I’m happy to report that the same is true for the gambling expansion bill. These are two bills we lobbied hard against, building relationships with members on both sides of the aisle, and I’m so thankful and proud of our policy team, Rebecca Delahunt (Director of Public Policy) and Renee Carlson (General Counsel, True North Legal).

Although progressives declared the ERA to be one of their top priorities, disagreements about the language of the bill and determined opposition from Minnesota Family Council and a handful of other stakeholders, like our good friends at Minnesota Catholic Conference, were able to overcome overwhelming odds. If you haven’t seen or shared it, watch our press conference and rally a few weeks ago where more than 500 Minnesotans gathered at the Capitol to show their opposition!

Please thank God with us for this victory and pray with us that, by taking back the Minnesota House this fall with a pro-life, pro-family majority, we can keep this proposal, which threatens the values so many Minnesotans hold, from being considered in future years.
