BREAKING NEWS, team: A county judge in Ohio is set to rule – possibly today – on Ohio’s law banning virtually all abortions.

This 2019 ban under consideration is what is known as the “heartbeat bill,” which bans most abortions once cardiac activity is detected, which can be before many women even know they’re pregnant.

When we passed Issue 1 last November and protected reproductive rights in our state constitution, it rendered a lot of this 2019 law unconstitutional – but not all of it, thanks to Attorney General Dave Yost, who has been working overtime to keep aspects of this draconian abortion ban in place, including a 24-hour waiting period and certain reporting provisions. Yost and his fellow out-of-touch Republican allies will stop at nothing to ignore the will of Ohioans and restrict women’s reproductive healthcare.

While we don’t know what the judge may rule today, we do know this: If we want the last word on abortion in Ohio, we need to flip the Ohio Supreme Court and elect justices who will implement Issue 1 as we intended and protect reproductive freedom once and for all.
