Partners-

This week was my 35th birthday. I originally planned to spend time with family and friends, but like many of you I have been staying home because of the coronavirus. Like the crisis of gun violence, this public health epidemic has cost us so many precious moments to keep both our families and our entire community safe.

Unfortunately, while the coronavirus rages forward, the impact of gun violence in our communities has not ended. In Chicago, residents witnessed the worst day of gun violence this year with 20 people shot on Tuesday alone. In Houston, a 5 year old child was killed on his porch by a stray bullet while recording Tik Tok videos. In Los Angeles, an elected official’s son is now fighting for his life in the hospital after falling victim to a drive by shooting while walking to the store.

Between the coronavirus and gun violence, our community is fighting harder than ever to survive two public health crises in a world where most resources, support, and services have been shut down.

CJAF has been aggressively reaching out to those serving in communities most impacted by gun violence and learning first hand about the health risk, mental toll, emotional strife and organizational strains they are suffering in these times.

So for my birthday, I hope you’ll click on the links below and grant me three wishes:

These are tough times for so many in our country, but we know the night is darkest before dawn, so join me in helping bring dawn to those most in need during these times.

Thank you for your continued support to #EndGunViolence
