Union presidents listed among Washingtonian's most influential people call on the magazine to negotiate a fair contract

Washingtonian magazine's annual list of the most influential people in Washington includes two union presidents this year — and they're taking the opportunity to highlight the magazine's three-year-long contract fight with workers.
"We are honored President Lee Saunders is named one of Washingtonian's most influential people in DC," AFSCME posted on social media. "We want to use the recognition to urge Washingtonian management to negotiate a fair contract with its editorial employees."

"Earlier this month, Washingtonian recognized President McGarvey as one of DC’s most influential people," North America's Building Trades Unions similarly posted on social media. "While this is an honor, he says it wouldn’t be possible without his staff, and that Washington-Baltimore News Guild members should should be offered the respect + fair contract they deserve from CEO Merrill Williams."
