But the answer is quite simple: Elise Stefanik is a shameless, power-hungry, craven, lying, run-of-the-mill politician. She saw power in Donald Trump and decided to do whatever she could to align herself with it.

Iran President Ebrahim Raisi and foreign minister killed in helicopter crash near Azerbaijan border
63-year-old Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, an ultraconservative hardliner, died in a helicopter crash in foggy weather in the mountains near the border with Azerbaijan. The charred wreckage of the aircraft, which crashed on Sunday carrying Raisi, as well as Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and six other passengers and crew, was found early on Monday after an overnight search in harsh conditions. The country’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei — who holds ultimate power with a final say on foreign policy and Iran’s nuclear program — said the first vice-president, Mohammad Mokhber, would take over as interim president. The deputy foreign minister, Ali Bagheri Kani, was appointed as acting foreign minister.

The boycott campaign — in reaction to a limited social media partnership between trans influencer Dylan Mulvaney and the beer juggernaut — turned out to be a rare success for anti-LGBTQ activists, likely leading to more than $1 billion in lost sales and at one point wiping up to $27 billion off the company’s market cap. An Israeli airstrike killed 27 people in central Gaza, mostly women and children, and fighting with Hamas raged across the north on Sunday as Israel’s leaders aired divisions over who should govern Gaza after the war, now in its eighth month. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faces criticism from the other members of his War Cabinet, with main political rival Benny Gantz threatening to leave the government if a plan is not created by June 8 that includes an international administration for postwar Gaza. Gantz's departure would leave Netanyahu even more reliant on far-right allies who support full military occupation of Gaza and rebuilding of Jewish settlements there.

Sen. Marco Rubio won't commit to accepting 2024 election results
With the MAGA cult leader's death grip on the GOP set in concrete, any Republican who fancies themselves relevant or in-play for a seat at Donald's gold-plated table have to kiss the ring and toe the company line — even if that means abandoning the rule of law, denying valid election results, and refusing to commit to the peaceful transfer of power. Add Sen. Marco Rubio to the party's long list of gutless capitulators. Rubio’s refusal to say if he would accept the results of the 2024 election is notable because he did vote to certify the presidential election for then-President-elect Joe Biden. At the time, he said, “Democracy is held together by people’s confidence in the election and their willingness to abide by its results.” Now that he's found himself on the serially indicted con man's VP short list, Marco has a different — and downright unpatriotic — song to sing.

New York residence RFK Jr. claimed as voting address isn’t even his
The luxury Westchester County residence used by 2024 presidential wannabe Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as his voting address is currently in foreclosure proceedings for non-payment. The home is not actually owned by Kennedy, and the independent spoiler candidate’s name does not appear in resident searches, but the anti-vaxx conspiracy theorist has claimed the address in numerous elections dating as far back as 2008. Cops and neighbors were reportedly “shocked” to find out Kennedy was attached to the residence and said they had no recollection of him ever living there. Maybe the brain worm made him do it?
