May 20, 2024 Subscriber, We are less than six months until the election and things are heating up. Lots of good news in this SITREP. We had our first joint candidate appearance with my possible opponent (I say possible because Curtis Hertel screwed up his petition <[link removed]> to get on the ballot by listing the wrong office. The former chairman of the Board of Canvassers filed a complaint against Hertel and the Board will meet later this month to decide if he can remain on the ballot.) The Lansing Chamber of Commerce hosted a forum with nearly 200 people in attendance. It was a good snapshot of our very different views of the role of a Member of Congress and our priorities. On the heels of the forum, I received the endorsement of the National Federation of Independent Business <[link removed]> , the Voice of Small Business in America. I’m proud to have their support and look forward to working them and other small business leaders to help grow our economy and create good paying jobs for Michiganders. Our team is working hard and we appreciate all your support <[link removed]> . DONATE <[link removed]> Former Detroit Police Chief and Republican candidate for Governor James Craig wrote an op/ed published in the Detroit News <[link removed]> this week urging the Board of Canvassers to comply with Michigan law and remove Curtis Hertel from the ballot for bungling the petition process. <[link removed]> <[link removed]> “My hope is that all candidates for any office requiring petition signatures are without flaws and submitted in accordance with the laws of our state. If not, there are consequences for those mistakes, and they should be applied equally across the board with no bias or favoritism. The Board of Canvassers should follow the rules and apply the laws as written.” Read the op/ed in The Detroit News <[link removed]> DONATE <[link removed]> It’s Official! Tom is unopposed for the Republican nomination for Congress after filing the maximum 2,000 signatures. Yard Signs Would you like a yard sign?
