We are thrilled to introduce our newest board members Renata Garcia and Alexander Rivera! Renata is an associate at Blackstone, with years of experience in structured finance. She is a passionate advocate for increasing the visibility of women in finance. As a former Volunteer Child Advocate for the Young Center, her decision to join this board is fueled by the belief that purpose-driven actions have the potential to change lives. Alexander is a seasoned business leader at Comcast NBCUniversal, currently directing data intelligence strategies within Comcast Global Audit. A thirteen-year industry veteran, he drives initiatives to fortify data integrity, security, and privacy across the organization. He is also passionate about world travel and discovery, enriching his understanding of diverse cultures and perspectives through visits to 66 countries and 28 U.S. states. Welcome Renata and Alexander!

Teenmigrant once accused in deputy’s death, says ‘every day is a struggle’ but he’s ‘happy to be free’ NEWS4JAX The Local Station Virgilio is a 19-year-old Indigenous-Maya Mam teen who was unjustly incarcerated since May 2023 for a crime he did not commit. Virgilio came to the U.S. as an unaccompanied child in April 2022 and was referred to our Child Advocate Program to receive support on his case. Our attorney Dane Olsen was interviewed by the station. 

 

Letter from 101 NGOs Urging U.S. to Restore UNRWA Funding 101 immigrant, refugee, human rights and humanitarian organizations, write to express our alarm and deep disappointment following Congress’s decision to reinforce and codify the Biden Administration’s suspension of U.S. funding for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), the principal aid provider for millions of Palestinian refugees in Gaza and in the surrounding region.
