Dear Friends,

Between now and June 18th, Arlington will choose our next County Board member to fill the open seat that is being vacated due to Libby Garvey's decision not to run for re-election.

It is a critical election that will help determine Arlington's next chapter. I encourage you to vote based on who will serve our whole community best on all of the important issues before us, embracing the challenges ahead of us.

JD Spain is my first choice. Tenley Peterson is my second. Both are strong candidates who are running excellent campaigns. JD is my first choice because I believe he is best suited to help us address the most important issues we will face over the next four years by adapting, evolving, and pushing for greater accountability from our County government. Tenley is also a great choice who would serve us well. To learn more specifically about my reasoning, keep reading.

Over the next four years, Arlington must strengthen economic opportunity for all our residents and address environmental sustainability and climate change. With over 30 years of experience and commitment to service as a distinguished veteran and non-profit leader, JD Spain will lead on the critical issues we face as a community such as addressing our school budget needs collaboratively, moving us forward on public health, and smart housing policies that serve all Arlingtonians.

JD shows up across our community, listens and values input, and is committed to engagement and accountability. Most importantly, JD will work with the community to build an Arlington where all of us are valued and better served. JD Spain has my full support and is my first choice in the June primary.
Tenley Peterson
Arlington’s future depends on thoughtful leadership that focuses on the defining challenges of our time: an economy that strengthens opportunity for all and addresses environmental sustainability and climate change. Tenley Peterson’s commitment to both these priorities is clear, as is her focus on investing in a fiscally sound manner in our public schools, and land use policies that focus on the details and respect homeowners and renters alike.

Tenley listens, collaborates, engages with everyone in our community, and is committed to serving Arlington. Tenley Peterson is my second choice in the June primary and has earned my support as a strong choice.

I believe JD and Tenley stand out and recommend them as your first and second choices. I also want to emphasize how important I believe it is that the two of them are your top two choices.

Why? This will be a very close primary election. Rank choice will likely determine which candidate reaches 50% plus one vote. For all of the ideas that I have shared with you over the years, I believe it is critical that one of these two candidates wins. Both are strong on all of the issues.
