We appreciate the efforts by the Governor, the staff of the Texas Workforce Commission, and other Texas officials and stakeholders who worked so hard to launch this project on such a short timeline.
As a member of the Governor's Frontline Child Care Task Force, I've been able to see first hand just how much effort they put into this initiative over the last week in the midst of difficult work conditions and numerous other high priority efforts to address the pandemic.
We also want to express our appreciation to all the child care educators who are stepping up to help. This experience is reminding all of us that child care providers are part of the backbone of the Texas economy, in addition to playing a critical role in giving children the social, emotional, and learning tools they will need in school and beyond.
We should all applaud these child care educators who are helping us get through this crisis — and we should ensure that future state policies recognize the critical role that these child care educators play in Texas.
