Dear John,
Honoring National Police Week
Everyday, Illinois law enforcement put their lives on the line to keep us safe. During National Police Week, I went to the House Floor to thank the men and women who protect and serve our communities and honor the fallen officers whose lives were lost in the line of duty.
As a former state and federal prosecutor, I was proud to stand with House Republican leaders to show support for the men and women in law enforcement. In Congress, I’ll always back the blue.

Supporting Illinois agriculture
At Rader Family Farms in Normal last week, I joined the Illinois Farm Bureau and the Illinois Soybean Association for a planting visit and discussion on issues facing ag heading into the summer. As Congress prepares to work on the Farm Bill, I will be a strong advocate for Illinois farmers and give IL16 a seat at the table for important trade discussions on the Ways and Means Committee.

Advocating for rural health resources
Last week, the Ways and Means Committee held an important markup on healthcare legislation.
The Protecting Access to Ground Ambulance Medical Services Act will preserve access to critical 9-1-1 and ambulance services in rural communities in IL16. As a member of the EMS Caucus, I will continue to support our life-saving emergency service providers. Glad to see this important bill pass out of the Ways and Means Committee.

Visiting constituents in IL16
In Rockford last week, we held an economic roundtable to hear about issues facing the community from stakeholders in the Winnebago County region. Thanks to everyone who came out for a positive conversation on ways Congress can strengthen the business climate in northern Illinois.

Thanks to Boone County Sheriff Scott Yunk and State’s Attorney Tricia Smith for meeting last week to discuss community planning and safety. As a former prosecutor, I am grateful to both of them for their commitment to keeping Boone County safe.
As always, thanks for subscribing to my newsletter!
Sincerely,
Darin LaHood Member of Congress
