Democrat,

As we look forward to Easter and enjoy the Passover holiday, of course this year’s celebrations are dramatically different than what we are used to. We can’t see our cherished family and friends and we can’t observe the religious and community traditions we all love. It’s easy to be deflated by this, but now is the time when we have to keep our heads up and continue to do the right thing by following social distancing, staying home and doing our part to beat the Coronavirus pandemic. It’s also a time to connect with our loved ones however we can -- through phone calls, video chats and more. I wish you and your family a very Happy Easter, Blessed Passover and a safe, healthy weekend.

This week Governor Murphy made the right decision by delaying New Jersey’s Primary Election until July 7. I applaud the Governor for the remarkable job that he continues to do to protect New Jersey residents during this pandemic. He has displayed impeccable leadership and has reminded us why we are so fortunate to have him as our Governor. The Governor’s decision to delay the primary election until July 7 is without a doubt the right decision to make for public safety. This ensures that every voter will be able to exercise their right to vote without fear of endangering their health.

Governor Murphy said at his briefing this week that he wants to avoid the kind of horrific situation that occured recently in Wisconsin, where residents were forced to choose between the right to vote and protecting their health. Watch Governor Murphy’s heartfelt comments on the situation below.

Governor Murphy has continued to provide daily updates on the COVID-19 situation, all of which are streamed live on his social media platforms and YouTube page. This week the state took several new measures to reduce the spread of the virus, like closing state and county parks and shutting down non-essential construction work. These measures may be painful, but they are necessary to keep our state safe.

For up to date information regarding new cases and directives regarding the Coronavirus, visit the state’s dedicated COVID-19 Information Hub or follow Governor Murphy’s official pages on social media.
