Dear Striped Bass Stakeholders,

The Maine Department of Marine Resources will be holding a public meeting on Tuesday, June 4 at 6:00PM to discuss recent Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission Atlantic Striped Bass actions and industry questions. This is an open forum where DMR staff will provide updates on striped bass, including what to expect moving forward towards the 2024 stock assessment. This is not a public hearing and no rule changes are being brought forward by DMR. This is an opportunity for an open dialog with striped bass stakeholders.

Please note this is a new date and location: June 4 from 6:00-8:00pm at the Brunswick Curtis Memorial Library.

Topics for discussion will include:

  • Ways to get involved
  • 2023 Volunteer Logbook data
  • Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission Addendum II to Amendment 7 (this addendum formalized the 28-31" recreational slot limit in the ocean fishery, as well as created a slot limit in the Chesapeake Bay and reduced the bag limit to one fish)
  • 2023 state regulations in the Saco River
  • How temperature impacts striped bass, and
  • How Canada manages their striped bass stocks

Meeting Location:

Brunswick Curtis Memorial Library
