John, imagine waking up every day to an oil well just steps from your backyard. Sounds like a nightmare, right?

Well, for too many Californians, it’s a reality.

Before we dive into the details, we need your help. Can we count on you to split a donation between the Jane Fonda Climate PAC and our partner, The Campaign for a Safe and Healthy California, so we can educate California voters on a dangerous ballot measure Big Oil is bankrolling this year? California passed a bill in 2022 that prohibits new oil drilling within 3,200 feet of homes, schools, and other sensitive areas in our communities. This law was a monumental victory for the health and safety of over 7 million Californians who live within a mile of oil and gas wells.

Despite clear public support for the law, Big Oil launched a massive campaign to try to subvert the will of Californians by overturning this life-saving measure via ballot referendum this November.

John, you should care about this whether or not you live in California. Let us explain…

A win for Big Oil would lead to devastating public health outcomes (increased respiratory and neurological diseases in children, greater exposure to toxic pollutants in predominantly communities of color, and more).

It would also set a dangerous national precedent. Big Oil is using California as a testing ground for a broader agenda to undermine environmental protections nationwide. They are spending millions to mislead, manipulate, and dismantle any climate progress they see as harming their bottom line.

But there are just two big problems for Big Oil: We’re not backing down. And we’re not alone.

The Campaign for a Safe and Healthy California — a massive grassroots coalition of health professionals, environmental justice advocates, and community leaders — are leading efforts to ensure Californians reject the fossil fuel industry’s self-serving agenda in November.

Here’s what we're doing and how your support can help:

* Educational Outreach: We need resources to inform the public about the dangers associated with nearby oil drilling through mailers, phone calls, social media, emails, texts, and in-person outreach — and in a state as diverse as California, we’ll need to invest in multilingual outreach. Disinformation is a potent tool in Big Oil's arsenal, but truth is more powerful.

* Legislative Advocacy: Supporting candidates who champion environmental justice is more crucial than ever. Your contributions to the Jane Fonda Climate PAC will allow us to support more down-ballot candidates who prioritize public health over fossil fuel profits.

* Community Engagement: We have to amplify the voices of those directly impacted by oil drilling. While the climate crisis caused by continued reliance on fossil fuels impacts all of us, people in frontline communities are bearing the brunt of these deadly extraction projects. Their stories underscore the urgent need for critical measures like the one CA passed in 2022.

Your support is essential. Your donation to Jane PAC and The Campaign for a Safe and Healthy California will help us fight the California referendum and back candidates dedicated to our health and the environment. Are you with us? [[link removed]]
