The Democratic Party
-----------------------
Samuel --

Here's the thing about this Republican primary that would
be funny if it didn't have such serious implications: For the
last year, the GOP has been acting like Donald Trump is
some wild aberration and not just a bigger, louder mouthpiece
for the kind of backward policies and positions they've
been promoting for years.

But they're wrong, and there couldn't be a more perfect
example of that than Trump's running mate, Mike Pence.

Before he served in Congress and as governor of Indiana,
Mike Pence was a talk-radio host. He called himself "Rush
Limbaugh on decaf."

Well, you can also think about him as "Donald Trump on decaf."
With a record of anti-woman, anti-immigrant, and anti-equality
policies, Mike Pence is just as extreme as Trump -- he's just
been a little quieter about it.

While Donald Trump might pride himself on being an outsider,
Mike Pence has D.C. experience - experience pushing for a
government shutdown over defunding Planned Parenthood.
As governor, he was willing to hold up Indiana's entire state
budget over Planned Parenthood as well. Not to mention
he tried to pass some of the most restrictive anti-choice
legislation in the country and once said he "long[ed] for the day
that Roe v. Wade is sent to the ash heap of history."

Trump also must have been impressed by the fact his VP hopeful
once pushed a bill to block birthright citizenship for children of
undocumented immigrants and felt the American people "don't
want comprehensive immigration reform."

And if you have heard of Mike Pence, it might be because he made
national headlines just last year as he flip-flopped on an anti-LGBT
"Religious Freedom Restoration Act," apparently not realizing that
businesses had no interest in a bill that would blatantly discriminate
until it threatened to cost his state up to $60 million in lost revenue.

Samuel, the GOP is offering a two-for-one deal on
out-of-touch ideology and inconsistent leadership. This is not the
future I want to see for our country, and it's up to us to make sure
it doesn't happen. Pitch in $3 or whatever you can today to make
sure Democrats have what it takes to stand up to the Trump/Pence
ticket in November:
