John,

This is Melissa Joan Hart. I’m an actor, director, and most importantly, mother. I’m reaching out to ask if you can support Lucy McBath before her upcoming primary , but first let me explain why we need her leadership in Congress right now.

In 2012, I was living with my family in Connecticut just a few miles away from Sandy Hook Elementary School when a man with a gun murdered 26 people. The victims included 20 first graders – the same age as my son at the time.

Then, more than a decade later in 2023. I was driving down a busy road near my home in Nashville, Tennessee when I witnessed a teacher fleeing for safety with children in tow. I stopped to help, but only later did I learn that six people had just been shot and killed at a school nearby.

Those incidents – in addition to countless other mass shootings – have changed my worldview forever. I had been a supporter of the Second Amendment, but I knew that keeping my family and my community safe was more important than allowing weapons of war to get in the hands of dangerous people. If our children aren’t safe in school, they aren’t safe anywhere.

America has a unique epidemic of gun violence, and fixing it will take comprehensive action from politicians – not thoughts and prayers. One of the politicians leading these efforts is my friend Lucy McBath. She’s been a champion for gun safety legislation since she was first elected to Congress in 2018, and we need her advocacy more than ever before.

Rep. Lucy McBath is all too familiar with the pain of losing a loved one in a shooting. Her son Jordan was senselessly murdered at a gas station in 2012 by a stranger with a gun – simply because he didn’t like the loud music Jordan and his friends were playing. Lucy’s activism around ending gun violence has led her to politics, and as a fellow mother, I trust her to fight every day in Congress to pass laws to keep our children safe.

However, Lucy has a primary election on May 21st since the new Georgia Congressional maps forced her to run in a new district, and time is running out for her to get voters onboard with her mission. John, can you donate to her campaign so she can continue leading the fight in Congress to end gun violence? [[link removed]]
