Indivisibles,

It’s your friendly neighborhood Co-Executive Director of Indivisible here. You all probably saw the new New York Times battleground poll. And you probably got a lot of “OMG! WE’RE DOOMED! GIVE MONEY NOW” emails and texts in response to that. You know Indivisible doesn’t do that. I’d recommend reading Leah’s measured take on that big scary poll here. The bottom line is that while it doesn’t look good, six months is an eternity in politics, and for our purposes it doesn’t change what we have to do: everything possible to defeat Donald Trump.

All we can do is all we can do, so that’s what we’re going to do.

Here’s the thing: Doing all that does cost money. And our grassroots fundraising has actually been going pretty darn well this year… right up until last month. We beat our grassroots targets by a bit in January and February, and we hit our targets in March and just squeaked by in April. But we’re halfway through May, and it’s the worst fundraising month we’ve had in a year.

I refuse to scare anyone into giving to Indivisible. Slumps happen. We’ll get through this. I’m emailing now in my role as Co-Executive Director to try to get our team the resources it needs to do the work we need to do in battleground states and swing districts across the country. If you can help us get through this, I would be grateful, and I can guarantee to you that any dollar you donate will go directly into the field.

I’m proud to be part of a movement led by grassroots leaders and fueled by grassroots dollars. There’s no corporate mega donor underwriting Indivisible. The grassroots dollars we take in, we send back into the movement.

We’re organizing a massive ground game in Arizona, we’re preparing for a national weekend of action with hundreds of local events focusing public attention on MAGA’s attack on reproductive rights, and we’re preparing the launch the most impactful voter contact tool in existence -- Neighbor2Neighbor -- to wipe the floor with Trump and MAGA.

None of that is possible without volunteer time, energy, commitment, and, yes, money. If you can volunteer your time and energy for this fight for our democracy, I am grateful. If you can volunteer a few bucks for the same cause, I am grateful as well.

Don’t let the naysayers get you down. We’re going to win this thing because it’s in our power to win this thing. All that’s left is to do the work, and that’s what we’re doing.

In solidarity,
Ezra Levin
