Monday, May 13, 2024: After an early morning flight from home, I’m in Atlanta this morning as I attend a roundtable discussion with the Atlanta International Franchise Association. Along with other members of the Georgia congressional delegation, I hear directly from local franchise owners and brands about how the franchise sector provides extensive opportunities to people of all backgrounds to promote upward mobility for individuals and strengthen communities in Georgia.
Afterwards, I have a phone interview with Politico to discuss legislation I am sponsoring called the Patient’s Right to Know Their Medication Act of 2023 that will ensure rural Americans and seniors have access to important health and safety information about their prescriptions. Next, I head to the Atlanta airport where I continue on to Washington.

Tuesday, May 14, 2024: I’m up early and across the street from the Capitol as I lead a group on a tour of what I consider to be the most beautiful building in America, the Library of Congress (LOC). With millions of books, films and videos, photographs and manuscripts in its collections, the LOC is the largest library in the world and is the main research arm of the U.S. Congress and home of the U.S. Copyright Office.
Once back in our office, I join in on our all-staff conference call before meeting with Col. Matt Ross, the incoming Deputy Commander Maneuver for the 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart. After meetings with our scheduling staff and legislative staff, I am pleased to welcome Assistant Chief Robert Gavin of the Savannah Police Department along with officers William Fitzpatrick, Lawrence Matthew Hubmeier, and Alexandria Brooks. This week is National Police Week on Capitol Hill, and we are proud to have some of the First District’s finest up here.
Next, I meet with our communications team before heading to the House Chamber where I pay tribute to Jamari McIvory from Savannah Christian Preparatory School, who was named winner of the Ashley Dearing Award as the most versatile male high school athlete in Savannah, former Congressman Lindsay Thomas who was recently honored with the 2023 Rock Howard Conservation Achievement Award, former Frederica Academy (St. Simons Island) and Auburn football player Jaylin Simpson who was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the recent NFL draft, and Kai Munshi who is retiring as the Deputy Director of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco.
Later, I head off Capitol Hill to speak to the National Glass Association before heading back to the House Chamber where I speak on the Maternal and Child Health Stillbirth Prevention Act and the Emergency Medical Services for Children Reauthorization Act. Once back in our office, I have a phone call with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Michael Regan before having a meeting with Genentech CEO Ashley Magargee followed by a virtual call with the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM).
After a meeting with Energy and Commerce (E&C) Environment, Manufacturing, and Critical Materials (ENV) subcommittee staff, I have a virtual district staff call followed by a meeting with Damera Bus. Next, I head to our weekly Whip team meeting followed by our first vote series of the week. After remaining in the House Chamber to recognize National Fentanyl Awareness Day, I head to the Rayburn Room across from the Chamber where I join my colleagues in a prayer vigil to commemorate the 24,067 names on the National Law Enforcement Memorial.

Wednesday, May 15, 2024: I’m off Capitol Hill and live on Fox Business this morning as I join a business panel on Mornings with Maria to discuss the latest economic numbers. Afterwards, I head to a meeting with University of Georgia (UGA) VP Kevin Abernethy followed by our weekly GOP conference meeting. Once back on Capitol Hill, I head to an E&C ENV subcommittee hearing that I chair with EPA Administrator Michael Regan.
Afterwards, I head to an E&C Communications and Technology (C&T) subcommittee hearing before heading back off Capitol Hill for a meeting with health care groups. Once back in our office, I meet with LifeLink of Georgia before heading to the House Chamber for our first vote series of the day. Once back in our office, I have meetings with the Navy League’s Atlanta Metropolitan Council, American College of Physicians Services, American Waterways Operators (AWO), Greg Bentley, CEO of Bentley Systems and the Minister of Environment, Spatial Planning and Infrastructure of Kosovo.
Later, I have meetings with Novocure and the National Fisheries Institute (NFI) before heading back to the House Chamber for our second vote series of the day. After paying tribute to New Hamstead High School’s Gianna Brown for winning the Hollis Stacey award as Savannah’s best female athlete, I head off Capitol Hill and speak to Guidehouse’s Medicare Advantage Summit.

Thursday, May 16, 2024: After an early morning radio interview with my good friends on the World Famous Butch and Bob show in Jesup, I head to our weekly Doctor’s Caucus meeting before heading to a meeting with Kia motors executives and dealers who are visiting the Capitol. Next, I head off Capitol Hill where I meet with Chevron retailers and marketers before heading back to our office where I meet with representatives from Allegiant Air.
After joining in on our all-staff conference call, I head to an E&C Health subcommittee mark up before heading to a Budget committee markup. Once back in our office, I have a live Fox Business interview to discuss the situation at the southern border before meeting with the Savannah District Corps of Engineers.
Remaining in our office, I have meetings with Southern Crop Production Association (SCPA), Transportation Construction Coalition of Georgia, International Paper, and an in-person interview with Fierce Healthcare to discuss my telehealth reauthorization bill. After filming this week’s edition of Buddy’s Briefing and Material Minute, I head to the House Chamber for our only vote series of the day. Afterwards, I waive on to the Natural Resources Committee Water, Wildlife, and Fisheries subcommittee hearing to discuss mining in our country.

Friday, May 17, 2024: My day begins with an E&C member meeting followed by our first and only vote series of the day in the House Chamber. After paying tribute to long-time Savannah-Chatham police detective Bob Merriman, who recently passed, I head back to our office where I have an interview with A Starting Point to discuss my Emergency Medical Services for Children Act that passed the house.
Next, I meet with Savannah resident Hunter Cone who is visiting the Capitol before having a virtual interview with Medical Economics to discuss health care issues. Next, I have a podcast interview with Liz Hirsh Naftali’s ‘The Capitol Coffee Connection,’ before heading to the airport for my return trip home. During the drive to the airport, I have a phone interview with The Hill to discuss my FairTax legislation and other tax issues.
